Welcome to 2014 everyone; at least, I THINK we're in 2014 now. This was the first year I haven't been able to stay awake until midnight--thank you motherhood--so I had to take Drew's word for it that we had made it to another year! We were lucky enough to claim Drew's parents as babysitters for the early part of the evening, as we had made plans with family to dine out in celebration. Unfortunately, soon after dinner was both Levi and Mommy's bedtime (wah wah).
We've had a wonderful start to our year, and can even go back to 2013 and say that we thoroughly enjoyed our very first Christmas together at our home in Lewisburg, WV. We had cousins and various family members traipsing in and out of our home for a few weeks, LOTS and lots of food, too many gifts to count, and the wonderful opportunity to spend time together with family and friends. Levi has accumulated so many toys that the child really needs a second bedroom; fortunately, Drew's brother and sister-in-law are expecting a little miracle of their own in a few months who can make good use of them as well!
FAMILY UPDATES:
Greenbrier County had so many "snow days" after the first of the year, that Kallie and Drew got a few additional days at home, too! It was too cold outside to play (in the single digits!), so we had to make do with spending quality time together. Just as we were beginning to feel cooped up and stir-crazy, it hit: THE STOMACH BUG! Kallie was the first victim, and Drew soon accompanied her. Fortunately, Levi remained unaffected and had a wonderful time with his "Gigi and Pop C".
Levi's making tons of progess...come visit us and see for yourself! While not quite ready to take his first steps, he's become quite the little speedster when it comes to crawling. He jabbers non-stop (even in his sleep!), and has become very interested in animals and his toy cars--sound effects included! He has no limit when it comes to eating food, and enjoys trying new flavors! He's made some new friends and loves to spend time with family members and anyone who will sit and listen to him "talk"!
We have been adjusting back into the world of teaching and juggling all of our after-school activities. Drew is now in full-blown training mode, and he's in the process of scheduling and registering for all of his 2014 races. Meanwhile, Kallie is busy thinking of ways to turn a few into mini vacations! Drew's vigilant about getting in his minimum of 2 hours/day work-outs; he's determined to have a fantastic season this year! When she's not working or playing with baby, Kallie has been spending time wrapping up her theater group's final performances of the year and (finally) putting together some family albums. They are both taking online classes this spring to keep up their teaching certifications, so it's never a dull day in the Cochran household!
Kallie's really looking forward to traveling to Morgantown and then on to Pittsburgh this weekend with a best friend to have a "girls weekend out!" Daddy will be at home with Levi and the boys will be enjoying their own version of a "boys weekend in" full of football, food, and playing!
Until next time...have a great week!
